Vertu grows by acquisition

A Fast-growing car dealer has expanded its business empire by making a strategic acquisition.

Vertu Motors has acquired the trade and certain assets of two Ford main dealerships in Bolton and Wigan, and two satellite operations in Walkden and Horwich, from Gordons (Bolton).

The total consideration is estimated at £11m and will be settled in cash from the group’s existing resources.

In February, Vertu bought a dealership in Sheffield for £2.4m and said it was on the hunt for more acquisitions in the area. Vertu acquired two sales outlets representing Nissan and Volvo from Harratts of Wakefield.

The new outlets brought the total number of Vertu sites in Yorkshire to 12. Vertu also has businesses in Leeds, Bradford, Barnsley, Doncaster and Chesterfield.
