Video puts enterprise hub in the picture

AN enterprise hub which has helped create more than 300 businesses, from flower arranging to green energy firms, has launched a video to mark its achievements.

The work of Sharing the Success, the Leeds Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, can be seen in a 10-minute film, which shows many of those who have benefited from business advice, training and funding.

Regeneration through Enterprise features Kwasi Adoo, a former professional basketball player known as Coach Q, who developed Sportsworkx and Hoops, Jennie Collins, who turned her hobby into a business when she set up Blossom Thyme three years ago and Chris Tremlett, who launched The Renewable Energy Experts (Tree) after being made redundant last year.

Simon Brereton, programme manager for Sharing the Success, said: "We made this film to show that anyone from any background, if they have a desire and passion, can change their lives through enterprise. Through their own stories, the people of Leeds have shown there is an appetite for the kind of support and help offered by programmes like this which so far has offered advice to more than 4,000 people, created more than 600 jobs and helped over 10,000 students to find their entrepreneurial talents."

"Although the government funding for the programme will end in March 2011, some of the 40 projects we've run with our partners in the city's poorest areas will continue and provide a lasting legacy for the scheme.."

Sharing the Success funds several partner organisations across Leeds, and specialises in business advice and mentoring schemes, access to funding, business space, such as Shine in Harehills and course and workshops run with organisations such as Leeds Ahead.

The film and case studies were made by Leeds company Fresh Cut Films and audio mixed by Sharing the Success client Lyes Charallah.
