Virgin Pioneer chosen to inspire young entrepreneurs

SIR Richard Branson has chosen entrepreneur Jacob Hill to be the voice of Virgin Media Pioneers in Yorkshire to help inspire more young people to start their own businesses.

The 19-year-old from Brighouse, who sells camping packs to festival goers via his business The Lazy Camper, has been named as an ambassador of the scheme for the region. Virgin Media Pioneers is a free, online community connecting young, entrepreneurial talent to a network of peer-to-peer support, with video blogs, TV series and professional mentoring and advice.

Sir Richard, pioneer-at-large for Virgin Media Pioneers, said: “There is a huge amount we can do to unlock entrepreneurial potential and Virgin Media Pioneers is empowering young entrepreneurs to fulfil their dreams of owning and managing successful businesses.”

Mr Hill said: “Being a regional ambassador for Virgin Media Pioneers has allowed me to run amazing networking events in Yorkshire, which has in turn allowed me to support other young entrepreneurs and local businesses.”

Mr Hill will be one of 12 entrepreneurs across the UK acting as regional Pioneer ambassadors, with each volunteer given support to deliver events in their region. He set up his business Lazy Camper in August 2011.

For every ‘Lazy Camper’ kit sold, one kit is donated to a person across the world in need of temporary shelter.
