Works has World Cup in its hands with branding contract

YORKSHIRE-based agency Works has secured a contract to provide creative support for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

The Leeds-based firm, which specialises in branding, video and event services, is working with world governing body Fifa to create a "unique identity" for the World Cup.

Works already supports European body UEFA to help promote the Champions League finals, as well as FIBA, the governing body for basketball.

Managing director Roy Webber said: "The World Cup is undoubtedly the biggest event in football, and is arguably the biggest sporting event on earth alongside the Olympics, so to be tasked with creating an identify for Brazil 2014 is a major coup."

Mr Webber and colleague Dave Gledhill, Works' design director, recently returned from a trade mission to Brazil led by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and Business Ambassador Lord Digby Jones.

The trip offered the chance to meet key contacts on the World Cup project, as well as forge links with potential new clients, including the Federao Paulista de Futebol (Sao Paulo state football federation).

UKTI is running an event at Aspire in Leeds next month to explore wider opportunities in Brazil, as well as Russia, India and China – the emerging BRIC markets.
