WYG steps up Western Balkans’ presence with deals worth £7m
In Croatia, which joined the EU in July, Leeds-based WYG has secured a major EU-funded contract for the provision of direct business advisory services to small and medium enterprises worth £2.4m.
Elsewhere in the country, the group, in partnership with local companies, has been awarded two contracts worth a total of £2.4m to protect Croatia’s water resources through improved water supplies and waste water management systems in Istria and Dalmatia.

Hide AdWYG has also won two smaller projects which involves supervising the construction of three waste water treatment plants and irrigation systems, all located in coastal towns of Croatia.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, WYG recently started a £340,000 study into the possibility of introducing smart metering in the energy sector.
In Montenegro, the firm is helping local authorities with works under a £96m water and waste water programme, which is being funded in part by a loan from the European Investment Bank.
Paul Hamer, WYG’s CEO, said: “WYG first began working in the Western Balkans in the aftermath of the break-up of the former Republic of Yugoslavia.

Hide Ad“Some 15 years later, we have built a substantial, permanent presence in the region with eight offices and annual turnover of approximately £10m.”
Earlier this month, WYG said it expects to beat profit forecasts this year following new contract wins.
