Xeros deal brings in fourth hotel chain

ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly washing machine company Xeros said that following a contract win, it now counts four out of the world’s top five hotel groups as customers.

The group, a Rotherham-based spin-out from Leeds University, makes washing machines that replace most of the water with polymer beads.

The beads attract stains to the bead surface, extracting dirt and producing what the company claims is a superior result compared with traditional washing machines.

The new contract, which Xeros declined to name, means that the company now supplies IHG, Hilton, Marriott, and Wyndham and Choice.

Xeros, which has previously been linked with Wyndham and Choice and Hyatt, said the US is a priority market given the increasing scarcity and cost of water in many states.

Xeros CEO Bill Westwater said: “Four of the world’s top five hotel groups have now agreed to use Xeros cleaning systems in the USA.”

By replacing much of the water with polymer beads, Xeros said its cleaning systems save laundry customers up to 75 per cent of the water, up to 50 per cent of the energy (used to heat water in the washing machine) and up to 50 per cent of the detergent.
