Zoo hits key production target

SHEFFIELD-based entertainment software company Zoo Digital today announced that its software had been used to automate the production of more than 100,000 menus for home entertainment products.

Zoo develops systems that enable major film studios and other publishers to deliver film and TV products to audiences in a cost-effective way.

Home entertainment products are usually developed for the North American market and then adapted to suit the needs of up to 60 different regions.

In a statement, Zoo said: "Zoo's products are licensed using a pricing model that combines software-as-a-service with software usage, so the company benefits from recurring revenues that grow as customers process more of their titles while Zoo's costs remain fixed.

"Zoo's automated menu regionalisation software is now being used by and on behalf of a number of studios and the production volume more than doubled in the year to March 2010, compared to the prior period.

"Management anticipates ongoing growth in demand for its regionalisation software as its customers continue to seek to reduce the costs associated with international product development."

In recent months the firm has been diversifying and growing revenues. In March, it won a contract to supply American TV giant CBS Home Entertainment with its DVD production software.
