Headteachers' tribute to Yorkshire students' 'strength and resilience' on GCSE results day
As thousands of young people across Yorkshire were presented their GCSE results after years of work, there was a sense of bittersweet sorrow following the loss of the last months of their traditional secondary education.
But as socially distanced reunions were held in some settings as students collected their results in person, headteachers paid tribute to their efforts and fearless dedication.

Hide Ad“This has been such an unusual year and I’m so proud of how our students have dealt with the situation,” said principal of Selby High School, Nick Hinchliffe.
“I’m absolutely delighted to see so many smiling faces this morning as students celebrate their achievements.”
nd in Halifax Lynnette Cassidy, headteacher at Crossley Heath, said it had been an “absolute joy” to see students celebrating.
“They thoroughly deserve their success,” she said. “I’m extremely proud of them.”

Hide AdBradford Council’s education leader Coun Imran Khan added that the region’s young people had “risen to the test”.
“This year has been extremely challenging for schools and all their pupils, but especially tough on the class of 2020,” he said.
“They have coped admirably with all that has been thrown at them and I wish them the very best of luck.”
