Hill View Academy is a multi-cultural and caring school in Almondbury – here’s everything parents need to know about next year’s intake

Education at Hill View, in West Yorkshire, is supportive, multi-cultural and caring, where children are welcomed and valued.

As applications open for reception year in 2023, and for ongoing places at nursery, Mr Normington, interim headteacher at the Academy explained why the school is special.

“Our academy is a vibrant, diverse and welcoming community, which we want to be an outstanding place to learn but also work. The children of Hill View Academy and the whole Almondbury community deserve the absolute best and we will do everything in our power to deliver that.

“We want to help create a school, working closely with our amazing staff team and other community leaders, that your children are desperate to attend – a place they feel safe and happy, excited and enthralled. A school they can proudly call their own! We are passionate about giving children opportunities to succeed in not just the core subjects but more widely; drama, music, art and sport for example.”

Vision and values

At its heart the Hill View ethos is to have happy and healthy children who love school.

This includes giving them as many opportunities as possible for personal developments, the knowledge and skills to develop their language, and a core set of principles around the 4 Rs: Resilience, Respect, Reflection and Responsibility.

And it wants all pupils aim high, with dreams and aspirations.

Making all this happen is the aim of all the staff, creating and outstanding learning and teaching experience alongside a curriculum which gives children a voice and a firm basis for their future.

Early Years

This all begins in nursery and reception. Being part of the Impact Education Multi Academy Trust means they have a deep commitment and understanding of a broad, balanced play-based learning approach in early years provision.

Mr Normington added: “During their time in the Early Years setting, we want our children to become confident, independent, and active learners who are physically and emotionally healthy.

“We believe each child is unique and learns best when they have secure, positive, and responsive relationships with adults and peers.

“Our learning environment promotes quality interactions, ignites curiosity and motivation for learning and exposes children to use their independent learning and investigative skills.”
