School rated outstanding by watchdog

A SHEFFIELD school has been rated as outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.

St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Academy, in Beauchief, was inspected last month.

The report has rated it as outstanding overall and in each of the four key areas: attainment of pupils, teaching and learning, leadership and management and behaviour and safety of pupils.

Andrew Truby has been head teacher since 2009 when he became one of the country youngest school leaders at the age of 28.

He set the target of being rated as outstanding from the outset.

He said: “We are all absolutely delighted with the outstanding judgment because we know we have worked relentlessly for this for many years.”
