School in search for oldest ex-pupils

A PRIMARY school is searching for its oldest former pupils as it prepares to celebrate its centenary.

Swinnow Primary School in Leeds will turn back time to celebrate its 100th birthday this month.

But headteacher Allison Chin is hoping to trace the school’s oldest former pupil to be a special guest of honour.

She is also hoping that ex-pupils and former teachers will share their memories of their time in the classroom over the years.

“As part of the celebrations
the school will be holding an
open day where the children will be taking part in lessons in the style of days gone by and dressing up in period costumes,” she added.

The school was originally opened by the Alderman WH Clarke, chairman of the Education Committee, in 1912.

There were five classrooms in the school for 246 children and one was used to help promote craftwork.
