Support ‘guild’ idea as parents plan free schools

The West London Free School is only one term old but has already become one of the most famous state schools in the country with Toby Young arguably the most prominent campaigner in favour of this new type of education.

It aims to be one of the best schools in the country, delivering a “classical curriculum,” which includes compulsory Latin lessons up to the age of 14.

It also aims to ensure that 100 per cent of pupils pass at least six GCSEs or IGCSEs at grade C or above, including maths, English, English literature, history, science and a foreign language and to persuade every pupil to stay on in the sixth form with the aim of progressing to a “good university.”
