HLC incorporates co-educational Prep and Pre-Prep departments, Highfield (ages 4-11) and Bankfield (ages 2-4) which enable pupils to make a smooth transition as they develop.

A delightful school on a magnificent 27 acre campus, the secondary provision encompasses all the benefits of single sex education, offering excellent teaching, strong pastoral support and a secure, friendly community allowing the girls to become confident, accomplished young women.

This year’s A level and GCSE results (at A*-A) are the best in Harrogate, with many outstanding individual performances. At A level, 79 per cent of all grades were at A*, A or B, with exactly half the grades attained by the Upper 6 girls being A* to A. Competition for a university place has been particularly tough this year, but HLC is delighted that the significant majority of its girls have secured their first or second choice institution, including: Oxford, Durham, Warwick, Bristol, Edinburgh, Imperial, LSE and UCL.

Courses to be studied range from Business and Economics to Engineering and Medicine.

At GCSE, over 61 per cent of all grades were A*-A, with almost 20 per cent of girls gaining A* and A grades in every exam they took.

Significantly, the great majority of girls are staying on into its Sixth Form and are sure to flourish, not only academically, but in all aspects of school life.

The wide range of academic subjects is complemented by a varied and extensive extra-curricular programme, including the many opportunities that a boarding school can offer. The boarding houses are arranged vertically from Upper 3 (Year 7) to Lower 6 (Year 12) whilst the Upper Sixth enjoy a greater sense of freedom in their own accommodation called ‘Tower House’.

Excellent rail and road links with easy access to Leeds/Bradford airport makes Harrogate Ladies’ the obvious choice.
