University bursaries for less well-off

A UNIVERSITY in the region has launched a financial support scheme to allow talented pupils from less well-off homes to go to university for free.

Seventeen students have started degrees at Hull University under a one-off scholarship scheme which sees them receive a full fee waiver worth £27,000 over three years. They are from homes with an annual income of less than £42,600 and have been chosen after showing “exceptional academic potential”.

The scholarship recipients come from schools and colleges in Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire. They are studying courses ranging from law and international business to pharmaceutical science and sports rehabilitation.
