Wakefield schools celebrate success

At Outwood Grange Academy, Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts and Wakefield Girls High School, all students achieved A* to E grades.

Sabiha Laher, Outwood principal said: “It was a very happy day for us all at Outwood Grange and our students have excelled themselves.”

Claire Nicholson, director of CAPA, said: “We are incredibly proud of the success of our students. As well as excellent results we are delighted that all our students are progressing to their first choice universities and internationally acclaimed performing arts conservatoires.”

Wakefield Girls High headteacher Gillian Wallwork said: “With over three quarters of girls attaining grades at A*, A or B, the girls and our staff can be rightly proud of their outstanding achievements.”

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and Silcoates School achieved a 99 per cent pass rate, with many students obtaining top A and A* grades.

Silcoates headteacher Darryl Wideman, said: “We are delighted to celebrate another impressive year of A Level success and we congratulate all our students for their many achievements.”

QEGS headmaster David Craig said: “My congratulations to our boys on another strong set of results. Nearly all of the Year 13s have already secured places at their chosen universities and we wish them well for a bright future.”

At Wakefield College, 97 per cent of students achieved pass grades A* to E, while at Ossett Academy 83 per cent were awarded A* to C results.

Wakefield College principal Sam Wright said: “The results are testament to the hard work and dedication of our students along with the high quality teaching and learning ethos that exists at Wakefield College.”

Ossett principal Alan Warboys said: “I am really thrilled with this set of results. I know that our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve these outcomes.”
