Coronavirus deaths in Yorkshire rise by 40 as new figures released show 708 more deaths in UK

A total of 4,313 patients have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Friday, the Department of Health said, up from 3,605 the day before.

Coronavirus deaths in Yorkshire have risen by 40.

Public Health England said of the extra 637 English deaths in hospitals, patients were aged between five years and 104 years old.

The number testing positive for COVID-19 in the UK as a whole has risen to 41,903, as of 9am on Saturday, after 183,190 have been tested.
