The location of every new Covid death recorded at Yorkshire hospitals

Yorkshire hospitals have recorded 33 further deaths of patients who had tested positive for Covid-19, according to the latest daily statistics.

Figures released by NHS England show 509 deaths were recorded in the country's hospitals in the 24 hours to 4pm on Monday (February 8), including 33 in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The deaths took place between December 27 2020 and February 8 2021, with the majority being on or after February 4.

The time taken for positive results to be received is among the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and being recorded.

Patients were aged between 27 and 100. All except 23, aged between 45 and 95, had known underlying health conditions.

The data represents the deaths of hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days and whose deaths were recorded in the latest reporting period.

Since April 28 2020, NHS England and NHS Improvement also started to report the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result but it is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death in the death certification process.

The figures for the latest reporting period show there were 38 such deaths in England.

Deaths were recorded at the following hospital trusts in Yorkshire and the Humber:

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust - 2

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust - 1

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - 6

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust - 3

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust - 2

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust - 2

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 1

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 7

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 1

According to Government data, a total of 9,699 patients across all hospital trusts and community settings in Yorkshire and the Humber have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 up to February 9.

Separate Office for National Statistics data shows there have been a total of 10,767 deaths recorded in Yorkshire and The Humber where the death certificate mentioned Covid-19 as one of the causes.
