How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy could help ease migraines
Sarah Todd, who runs Oxify centres in Leeds and Retford, explained the life-changing results her patients say they have experienced from Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
The therapy itself involves breathing in near-pure oxygen in a carefully-controlled pressure chamber.
Sarah says: “Fairly recently we have been seeing a number of clients presenting with persistent headaches, connected with Long Covid, and with migraines.
“We have been seeing a lot of relief of the symptoms from the benefits of this therapy.”
Sarah says the effects of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy are cumulative – the more sessions you have the more benefit you will see. However, migraine and headache symptoms are easing for some people after just one session.
“One of our clients was being woken up at 4.30 every morning with painful from headaches, and they were lasting all day,” Sarah said. “Since the therapy she has not had any headaches at all, which is fantastic!”
There could be benefits for those with sinus-related headaches too, and because the pressure in the therapy chamber is controlled manually by one of the Oxify team it can be increased slowly and comfortably, depending on the client’s needs.
Sarah said: “Some patients need three or four sessions to see the cumulative results for longer lasting results but sometimes the body just needs this extra boost in order to be able to heal itself naturally.”
Sarah is so convinced of the difference the therapy can make that she is offering clients a £500, 10-session money-back guarantee, if they don’t feel the benefit. See the website or give the team at Oxify a call for full T&Cs.
What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Referred to as HbOT, it involves the delivery of increased levels of oxygen inside a hyperbaric chamber where the pressure around the body is increased for a session of usually 60 minutes.
The first chamber was used in the 1930s and it is a well-established treatment for decompression sickness, a potential risk of scuba diving. It’s even used by the NHS for wounds that may not heal as a result of diabetes or radiation exposure.
The air we usually breathe contains 21 per cent oxygen, along with 78 per cent nitrogen (and the rest made up of noble gases and carbon dioxide). But within the chamber, you breathe 95 per cent oxygen – which can significantly increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in the bloodstream.
Why does breathing more oxygen help?
The increased flow of oxygen stimulates and restores function to damaged cells and organs; The Therapy has been found to offer benefits to people with a wide range of afflictions. Please click here to find out more.
On a cellular level, HbOT helps rejuvenate cells, supplies you with energy, supports your immune system, and more.
Laura says: “Covid 19 left me with a daily persistent headache which was effecting my day to day life and somedays I struggled to get out of bed. I tried everything from over the counter medications, preventatives prescribed by doctors and general relaxation techniques but nothing seemed to work. I started coming to Oxify a couple of weeks ago and have now done around 10 sessions. Even from my first session my headache was not as intense and it is now a distant memory. For the first time in six months I am looking forward to the school holidays where I can actually spend time with my kids instead of being so exhausted and in pain that I sleep most of the time.”
How is the therapy given?
You lie fully-clothed in a manually operated chamber with windows, and an oxygen mask placed over the nose and mouth to deliver the oxygen. HbOT is a non-invasive and painless procedure which clients find easy-going and relaxing. Your host will monitor you throughout to ensure you are happy and at ease.
Who else can it help?
As well as Long Covid patients, HbOT has been used for a wide range of ailments and issues including tissue recovery, stress relief, skin rejuvenation, chronic fatigue, asthma and sports recovery.
Sarah says: “Long Covid patients have reported problems with vertigo, breathlessness, fatigue and pain – and I have seen how HBOT can help with these symptoms.
“We have also helped patients with arthritis and HBOT is being used to help slow the symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, as well as helping burns victims and offering anti-ageing therapy.”
Craig says: “I have struggled with severe long covid for the past four months. I have not been able to walk, have any energy and constant headaches. After just the first treatment, I could feel the difference. Oxify have been amazing throughout all my treatments. The therapy and the customer service has been amazing and it has now helped me get my life back on track; completing normal day to day functions and returning to work. I owe Oxify everything!!! Thank you so much.”
Debbie says: “After months of suffering with arthritic pain my mood and self-esteem was at rock bottom. I saw the Evening Post review regarding Oxify, so decided to give it a try. They say you will notice a difference after 3/4 sessions, but I could feel a difference after only 1 session! I had a bit more movement in my knee, no burning or stabbing pains in my thighs due to the arthritis. My mood had also lifted and I was feeling much more positive. I have now had four sessions over seven days and not had any pain at all, still feeling positive and my complexion has also improved. The place is spotlessly clean, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. For anyone who is thinking of trying this I would say ‘Go for it’, it’s totally pain-free and the benefits are amazing!”
