Lymphoma charity's support for mum and grandad inspired mammoth trek in Kenya
His route across the Great Rift Valley is for a cause close to his heart. He is raising money for Lymphoma Action, following both his mum and grandad being diagnosed with the cancer.
Danny, from Huddersfield, who is partway through the nine-day trek, says the charity has been crucial in helping his family to understand more about lymphoma.

Hide AdHis mum was diagnosed aged 38, back in 2008, after experiencing breathing difficulties, chest pain and fatigue. "Following chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, all whilst admirably continuing to take care of myself and my two sisters, thankfully she was given the all clear and has remained that way ever since,” Danny says.
His grandad was diagnosed with another type of lymphoma after complaining of sore and watery eyes in 2009 and 2010. "The news was heartbreaking for us all, especially after my Mum’s recent experience,” Danny says.
He underwent chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant to treat the cancer but in 2017 scans confirmed that he had relapsed.
He is now having tests to determine whether he can have a type of treatment that uses cells from your own immune system to fight lymphoma.
Danny says: “Lymphoma Action provided my mum and grandad with a lot of information about their cancers, they offered them information on how and where to get help.”
