Yorkshire friends to take on four ultramarathons in memory of loved ones

They have already completed three marathons in three days and a 24-hour cycle in memory of two people close to them.

Now, Jeremy Butterfield and Ollie Ward are pushing themselves even further, taking on four ultramarathons in four days, running from Liverpool to Harrogate in a major fundraiser.

They are taking on the challenge in memory of David Brown, Ollie’s uncle, who died in December 2021 after contracting Covid-19 and James Hindmarsh, a friend who lost his two years ago, a year after being diagnosed with a rare cancer.

Half of the money the pair raise in their latest drive will be donated to Sarcoma UK, a charity very close to James and his family’s hearts.

The other half will be given to The David Brown Foundation, set up in memory of Dave to help underprivileged children to access educational opportunities.

Jeremy says: “Both James and Dave never gave up in their fights and we will continue their legacies to help others fight the challenges they are facing. Every step of the way, they will be with us.”

The pair will start their #DOIT4JAMES&DAVE challenge on May 25 and aim to raise £20,000.
