Gardens and parkland at National Trust's Beningbrough Hall near York reopens

The gardens of Beningbrough Hall can now be included in people’s walking routines after the stately home near York has reopened to the public.

Capacity is limited to enable social distancing, and all visitors, including National Trust members, must book tickets online in advance - those without will be turned away.

The house itself will not be open but the gardens, parkland and toilets will be accessible.

Beningbrough is a Georgian country house surrounded by woodland, parkland and a river.

Award-winning designer Andy Sturgeon has overseen a recent rejuvenation of the gardens, which include walled areas and garden rooms.

The National Trust previously reopened the car park at Nostell Priory, near Wakefield, for access to the parkland.
