Retro Scarborough : Photos show life on the Yorkshire coast in the early 19th century

For centuries, Scarborough has been a haven for holidaymakers.

The North Yorkshire coastal town is famed for its beaches, stunning rugged limestone cliffs and tourist amenities.

Scarborough railway station opened in July 1845, bringing with it a tidal wave of tourism.
