Yorkshire is famed for many things, but one the county's greatest prides is being the birthplace of the legendary literary family, the Bronte's.

The three sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne, remain some of the best-loved authors and poets to this day, with their works of Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall considered to be among the greatest literary masterpieces. Born in the village of Thornton and later associated with the village of Haworth, the family took much inspiration from their rural surroundings and poured it into their writing. Luckily, there are a wealth of locations fans can visit around Yorkshire to gain a little insight into the Bronte world. Here are a few must-visit spots.

This beautifully preserved museum houses a fascinating display of clothes, furniture, literature and personal possessions, as well as hosting regular exhibitions and events, offering an intriguing insight into the famous family.

Tucked away on Market Street in the village of Thornton sits the Bronte Birthplace, where all three sisters, and their brother Bramwell, were born. Now known as Emily's, it serves up coffee, teas and locally sourced food.

Thought to be the inspiration for the Earnshaw family house in Wuthering Heights, the ruined farmhouse sits surrounded by miles of countryside near Haworth and is a popular walking destination.

Covering the West Yorkshire and East Lancashire Pennines, Bronte Country marks a stretch of rugged moorland which is reminiscent of that described in Wuthering Heights - ideal for soaking up where Emily's inspiration came from.
