Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay 2009, Chile, Tesco, down from 6.99 to 4.99, starting on Monday until November 30. Four of the Casillero range are on offer, and each hits the button for mid-week drinking. The Chardonnay is perfect with roast chicken.

Marquis de Pennautier Viognier 2009, Majestic, 6.99. Not on offer but good value all the same, this is a light, peachy, crisp-tasting wine and avoids the hefty, oily character of some Aussie Viogniers. A good wine with salads and creamy pasta. I'll let you know when it goes on offer.

Zalze Shiraz/Mourvdre/ Viognier 2009, South Africa, Waitrose down from 6.49 to 5.19 until Wednesday November 3. Just a few days left of the present Waitrose offers, but don't forget to stock up with this, deep wild berry fruit and enough grip to cope with red meat.

Blanquette de Limoux 1531, Tesco, down from 9.99 to 6.99 Monday until November 30. The date refers to the first sparkling wine produced at the nearby Abbey and has no connection to this fresh-tasting, nutty fizz. I liked it at full price, but it's a bargain on offer.
