Pirie South Riesling 2006, Tamar Valley, Tasmania, Halifax Wine Company 8.99 Not on special offer but the waxy, zesty lime and crunchy flavours of this wine are well worth its full price. Serve with grilled sea bass, creamy fish dishes and Thai-spiced chicken.

Porcupine Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, South Africa, Sainsbury down from 6.99 to 5 until May 18 Blackcurrant-soaked, spiced-edged wine, with supple tannins and a long finish make this one of the best-value South Africa wines on the shelves. Winemaker Marc Kent cannot keep up this terrific quality:price ratio for long.

Corte Mayor Crianza 2005, Co-op 8.99 to 5.99 until May 4 Just a few days left to snap up this delicious Rioja but it is well worth a detour for its warm, cherry-spiked fruit, wrapped in light toasty oak.
