Here is this week's top pick of good value bottles to savour

Fish Hoek Sauvignon Blanc 2009, South Africa, Waitrose down from 6.29 to 4.69 until February 16

Bright tropical fruit-style Sauvignon spiked with a twist of lime. Delightfully refreshing and a good aperitif.

Lime Tree House Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, South East Australia, Co-op down from 4.79 to 3.79

Great value drinking in this chunky, blackcurrant-stashed wine. Ignore the ingredients list on the back of the bottle – the Co-op is trying to lead the field, but it just looks scary.

Palo Alto Reserva Red 2008, Chile, Booths, down from 7.49 to 4.99 until February 14

Voted Chile's best good value red wine, Palo Alto manages to pack layers of spice, structure and suppleness among its blackberry and damson fruit. Enjoy with winter casseroles.

Bluff Hill Ros Sparkling Wine, New Zealand, Marks and Spencer, down from 8.99 to 6.99 starting February 1 until February 28

Probably reduced in advance of Valentine's Day but really not quite good enough for the love of your life on that special day although he/she is bound to appreciate its delicious crisp strawberry-edged fruit on a Friday evening, a Sunday morning or anytime in between.
