The Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair returns for the winter edition, from 27 -29 January, with a superb collection of fine antique furniture going on sale from one of Yorkshire’s leading specialists, Elaine Phillips Antiques.

With a history going back to the 1960’s, Elaine Phillips Antiques were based in Harrogate for many years. Today, Elaine’s daughter, Louise Phillips, runs the family business from premises near Leyburn and sells to clients across the country. Louise also provides a complete interior design service and also holds the post of Chairman of the British Antique Dealers’ Association (BADA).

Among exhibits belonging to the business will be a fine set of late eighteenth century ladderback Lancashire country dining chairs, a very fashionable and useful large 19th century oak farmhouse table and a fine and rare 17th century oak wall cupboard.

The popular Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative, Antiques & Art Fair features more than 45 specialist dealers offering for sale a wide range of high-quality exhibits encompassing rare and decorative pieces from the from 1600 to the present day with prices from £20 to £20,000.

Public admission to the stunning event at Harrogate’s Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate is £5.00, Friday to Sunday, 11am-5.00pm, but you can obtain Complimentary Tickets from www.cooperevents.com.

Organiser Sue Ede from Cooper Fairs said: “Antiques have proved to be the most sustainable of all kinds of interior design and decor. Collectors take enormous pleasure in adding rare and unique pieces to their home, bringing charm, character and practicality to their day-to-day surroundings.”

The Fair offers everything from fine paintings to Persian rugs, garden statuary, traditional and mid-century modern furniture to eye-catching, ceramics, glass and objets d’art.

Several specialist dealers will be joining the fair, including Hickmet Fine Art from London, showing fine Art Nouveau and Art Deco bronzes and glass. Among their many spectacular exhibits will be a superb gold painted bronze depicting a reclining Cleopatra by the famed sculptor Demetre Chiparus (1866-1947), priced at £15,500.

David Hickmet will also be showing a selection of fine early 20th century glass, including pieces by Emile Galle, Rene Lalique, Loetz and the Daum factories.

Also joining the fair for the first time will be Opus Antiques from the West Country, specialising in rare and collectable treen and small furniture; and Alan Coutts from Scotland with a range of ceramics, glass and collector’s items.

Regular exhibitors include Granta Fine Art, specializing in 20th century Modern British paintings, Saul Greenstein with fine 19th and 20th century jewellery and Rowles Fine Art with 20th century and contemporary works and sculpture.

Art Deco ceramics, glass and silver will be on display from Brian Ashbee and Wes Wotruba Antiques; John Newton Antiques offers 20th century studio pottery and porcelain; Garret & Hurst promise a superb collection of French and European bronze sculpture, and Highland Antiques will specialise in antique silver.

Showing furniture and decorative pieces will be Mark Buckley Antiques late Victorian and early 20th century walnut furniture and bronzes, and Melody Antiques with country furniture and collectables.

Other specialists include Hispanic Antiques, showing Spanish sculpture and unusual collector’s pieces; Shapiro & Co with 19th and 20th century British and European jewellery and silver including pieces by Faberge; Plaza with 19th and 20th century jewellery; Slades Antiques showing interior design pieces for the home and garden, and Bottlebrook Antiques with 18th and 19th century porcelain including rare coffee cans.
