Under the hammer: loos with a view of Bronte moors

A toilet block in Bronte country with potential for conversion is causing a stir.

Loos with spectacular views over Bronte country look set to be the star lot at Pugh's next Yorkshire property auction.

The former public toilet block is in a prime spot at the popular Penistone Hill Country Park on Moorside Lane, Oxenhope, near Haworth.

Set on a hilltop in one of Yorkshire's most picturesque locations, it overlooks the surrounding moorland made famous by the Bronte sisters. The loos will go under the hammer with a guide price of £10,000.

Bradford Council is disposing of the building, which has been closed since 2015, and there is potential for conversion, subject to planning permission.

Paul Thompson, managing director of Pugh auction house, said: “We have also seen a great deal of interest in the toilet block. It is in a stunning rural location in the heart of Brontë country that attracts a high number of visitors and could make an ideal café or shop with an imaginative redevelopment.”

There are over 30 lots at Pugh's next Yorkshire property auction at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds on September 4. www.pugh-auctions.com
