What’s on Yorkshire: A fieldsports day out for all the family this May at Harrogate showground

The National Shooting Show isn’t just about guns and shooting. There are also displays of working dogs, ferrets and falconry.

There’s also the chance to have-a-go at archery, axe throwing and more. All at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate from 11-12 May 2024

Whether you’re an air rifle enthusiast, a clay shooter, a game shooter or a rifle shooter, then you’ll find something to catch your eye at The National Shooting Show (formerly The Northern Shooting Show) this May.

There are launches and displays of new guns and rifles and it’s a great place to pick up a pre-used gun from a reputable dealer. Many visitors go along to find a bargain and you’ll certainly see authentic deals on offer.

Not just on guns either. You’ll find discounts on clothing, equipment for dogs and footwear too.

The event benefits from the UK’s longest outdoor shoot line. For airgunners, this means that you can try out an air rifle you’re interested in before buying and have a turn on the air rifle range.

Ever wanted to shoot a .50 cal rifle?  Well, you can at The National Shooting Show, as well as trying your hand at Practical Shooting, You can try Hunter Field Target and Bell Target shooting as well.

Other activities

Watching working dogs is a joy and visitors, particularly children, will enjoy seeing beautifully trained retrievers and spaniels showing off their skills. (And if you want to bring along your own dog, there’s a dog creche.)

Other outdoor activities to try include axe throwing (safely!), archery, bushcraft and slingshot tuition. You can also watch amazing falconry displays.

The Shooting Lodge

The National Shooting Show is a great place to meet up and this year you will be able to visit the new Shooting Lodge, which is the perfect hangout to unwind with a pint, catch up with old friends or make new ones. There will be live chats with shooting experts and cinematic showcases on the big screen.

In addition, a new cafe area will be offering wild game and venison, cooked and presented  in many different ways.

The National Shooting Show was formerly called The Northern Shooting Show, but the name change reflects the visitor profile, with people coming from all over the UK. The Show has signed to be in Harrogate in 2025 too.
