2,000 cannabis plants seized in Brighouse

WEST Yorkshire Police officers have seized more than 2,000 suspected cannabis plants from properties in Brighouse.

Officers visited an unoccupied house, on Mill Hill Lane, Brookfoot, on Tuesday morning and found approximately 1,500 suspected cannabis plants being cultivated.

The officers then attended two other properties on the same street and found a further 1,000 suspected cannabis plants.

Inspector Mohammed Nawaz, from the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is a fantastic find and means that, if the plants are confirmed as cannabis, that we have stopped a substantial amount of the drug from reaching the streets.

“This was a sophisticated set up and we have now dismantled it.

“From my memory this is one of the largest seizures of suspected cannabis in the area covered by the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team and is a substantial dent in the fight against the supply of illegal drugs.

“An important part of police work is intelligence passed on from the community and I would urge anyone who sees anything suspicious in their community to contact police.”
