Abusive visitor to tower block jailed

AN ABUSIVE man who breached an injunction 23 times has been sent to prison.

Jack Parkin, of no fixed abode, was a frequent visitor to the Cornhill tower block on Brightmore Drive in Netherthorpe, Sheffield, where he committed “various acts of anti-social behaviour”, including assaults.

In May, Sheffield County Court granted an injunction against Parkin, banning him from an area around Brightmore Drive and also from assaulting, threatening, abusing or otherwise causing a nuisance. The injunction remains in force for two years.

However, despite the injunction, Parkin continued to be a regular visitor to Cornhill and breached his injunction 23 times.

Coun Harry Harpham, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “Mr Parkin did not heed the many warnings he was given and now must suffer the consequences, which in this case is a prison sentence.”

Parkin did not attend the court hearing on Monday, where he was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.

However, an arrest warrant was issued and he is now beginning his sentence. He was also ordered to pay costs of £2,232.
