Advice offer on antique conservation

ADVICE on how to preserve antiques and heirlooms will be available at the first "meet the conservator" event to be held in Rotherham.

The event will be at Clifton Park Museum between 1.30pm and 3.30pm on Saturday July 3 and will let the public see how staff look after the collections.

Conservator Anna Barnes, who will be hosting the day, said: "My aim is to preserve things for the longest amount of time possible and ensure that their historic integrity is not compromised through practical conservation and restoration treatments.

"I do a lot to monitor and control the environment in which the items are stored or displayed to ensure they are not damaged.

"If people can't bring the items that they want advice about to the event, then a photo is the next best thing. I can also give advice on caring for newer items." To book a place call 01709 336633.
