Africa kidnap Briton tells of execution fears

A Briton kidnapped by pirates while sailing off the east coast of Africa said yesterday he feared he and his wife could be executed within days.

Retired quantity surveyor Paul Chandler, 59, and economist Rachel Chandler, 55, disappeared after sailing from the Seychelles towards Tanzania on October 23 last year.

Mr Chandler, in an interview with ITV News, said he believed he and his wife could be killed in “three or four days”.

Mr Chandler said the pirates had separated him from his wife, who told him in their last phone call that she was “giving up”.
