Air ambulance attending '˜multi-vehicle' road collision in North Yorkshire

Highways England said the “multi-vehicle” incident happened on the northbound carriageway of the A1(M) between junction 49 and 50, near Ripon.

An air ambulance has attended and both carriageways are currently out of action.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the brigade was called to the scene shortly before 6.30pm.

Motorists are being advised to follow diversions via the A168, A19 and A689 westbound.

Traffic is expected to return to normal by around 8.30pm.
