All aboard for a celebration

Three Brownies from York joined hundreds of their counterparts from the North East for a day out on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as part of celebrations to mark a 100 years of guiding.

Grace Titan, Jessica Bilton and Mollie O'Donnell, all from Clifton, met the North East Chief Commissioner, Hilary Cooper, who joined the celebrations to cut a centenary birthday cake.

The Brownies took a train between Pickering and Grosmont in North Yorkshire, entertained on the way by balloon modellers. They then took part in a fun day at Grosmont Cricket Club, with stilt walkers, jugglers and a bouncy castle providing entertainment. The event was organised by Rebecca Cook, the region's programme adviser who also runs 1st Rawcliffe Brownies in York. She said: "It was a fabulous day when Brownies from all over the region could get together, have fun together and celebrate together."
