'Angel' tribute to baby girl as man accused of murder

THE great-grandmother of a baby girl allegedly murdered in Hull has paid tribute to her "beautiful and innocent little angel".

Alisia Salter, who celebrated her first birthday last month, died from internal injuries. A man has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Her great-grandmother Maureen Bristow, a city councillor, said: "Alisia was a right little tinker. She was always smiling, laughing and joking.

"She was just a little angel and we are all absolutely devastated.

"It has totally rocked the family, but at the same time it has brought us all very close together and we are all supporting each other."

Flowers and teddy bears have been left outside Alisia's home in Davidstow Close, Bransholme, which has been cordoned off and remains under police guard.

An investigation was launched after police were called by staff at Hull Royal Infirmary on Monday.

Oliver Joe Longcake, 21, of the same address, appeared at Hull Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with murdering Alisia some time between March 20 and March 23. He is in custody and due to appear at Hull Crown Court this morning.

Alisia's mother, Liane Salter, 24, was also arrested in connection with her death and has been released on bail.

Coun Bristow has been granted leave of absence from her seat on the fostering panel of the council's social services committee and said she had received a number of messages of support.
