Anger as town ‘put at back of repairs queue’
Stocksbridge Town Council has officially protested to Sheffield Council after members were told the town would be one of the last areas in the city to benefit from a five-year programme to improve roads launched last week.
The town council decided to write to the city council’s chief executive John Mothersole after being told repairs would only take place in the last year of the programme, which will start in Shiregreen next month.

Hide AdCoun Jack Clarkson said: “We have been put at the back of the queue which is disgraceful.”
The Mayor, Coun Sue Abrahams, said Stocksbridge should be a special case being at the most northern edge of the city that suffered most from extreme weather conditions.
She said recent heavy rainfalls had led to large amounts of water running off the Pennine hills surrounding the town and damaging roads.
Nobody from Sheffield Council was available for comment.
