Appeal after brick thrown at lorry

Police are appealing for witnesses after a brick was thrown yesterday from a bridge on the A64 at Tadcaster.

The brick hit a passing Leyland HGV on the Northbound carriageway at 7.10am.

The windscreen of the lorry was shattered in the incident but the driver and his passenger escaped unharmed.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who may be responsible.

Sgt Neil Dunn, of Selby Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was a dangerous incident which could have been much more serious for the driver and his passenger. Fortunately, they were uninjured but incidents like this can potentially lead to serious or fatal injuries. Whoever is responsible for this mindless act needs to realise what the consequences could have been. If anyone knows who the offender is or witnessed the incident, I would urge them to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.”
