Appeal for witnesses after fatal collision
POLICE are looking for witnesses to an accident in which an 18-year-old woman from Barnsley died and a 45-year-old woman, also from Barnsley, was left fighting for her life after their car collided with a lorry.
Their black Renault Clio was in Moor Lane, Brierley, travelling from Great Houghton towards Hemsworth at 8.10 am yesterday when it veered across the road and hit a white lorry travelling in the opposite direction.
The older woman was the driver and the dead girl a front-seat passenger. The lorry driver, a 63-year-old man from Bradford, was unhurt.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or either vehicle before the crash, is asked to call 0114 220 2020 quoting incident number 198 of February 16.
