“In some cases, they have been the difference between a life lost and a life saveds.”

On September 20 last year, Ryan and Michael came across a seriously injured man with severe head injuries in Wombwell High Street. He had been attacked and had a lot of blood coming from his nose and mouth.

The two cadets, at the time aged 15 and 16, administered first aid while calling for an ambulance.

While waiting for the ambulance, the teenagers then saw a man collapsing off a bus, who they then also treated.

Sergeant Major Tracie Colbridge from Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force, said: “I am very proud of the way both cadets used their first aid skills.

“They acted and made the difference.”
