A 35-year-old man from the Pontefract area was arrested and was released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Sgt John Thomas, of Halifax Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This is the first of many joint operations planned for the Calderdale area. We are keen to drive out this illegal trade and allow honest individuals to enjoy their car boot sale experience without compromise.

“If any members of the public have any knowledge of illegal, illicit or pirate merchandise, I would encourage them to contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.”

David Lodge of West Yorkshire Trading Standards added yesterday that Calderdale Council and the other authorities involved in the raid were keen to send out a strong message those who continue to trade in illegal counterfeit goods.
