Arrests after gun was shot in Sheffield street

Six men have been arrested after a gun was shot in a Sheffield street on Saturday.

Police were called at around 4pm after it’s believed the weapon was fired in Queen Mary Road.

Police believe there had been a disturbance in the street, which resulted in a shot being fired.

Damage was caused to the window of a nearby house, but no-one was injured during the incident.

Six men have been arrested on suspicion of firearm and public order offences and remain in police custody.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The investigation is in the very early stages and officers are in the process of speaking to witnesses and gathering further information about what happened.

“Extra patrols are being carried out to provide reassurance in the local area as enquiries continue.”
