Arrests in city crackdown on drugs

POLICE in Hull pledged to continue a crackdown against drug-dealers after a series of raids across the city.

More than 15 arrests were made in response to information provided by members of the public.

Cannabis plants were seized at addresses in Boulevard, Jalland Street, Rosedale Grove, Malpas Close and Chelmsford Close.

Two stolen Rolex watches, a stolen TV, a "large amount" of cash, unidentified pills and other items were also seized.

Humberside Police spokesman Matthew Wright said: "If the community tell us about drug-dealing we will use that intelligence to carry out further warrants."

Officers from the Drug Intervention Programme and outreach teams from the charity Compass also took part in the operation.

Sgt Nigel Ling added: "This operation is only possible due to good community liaison and excellent partnership working and is based on information provided by the public.

"If anyone has information about drug-dealing in their communities they should contact the police. Together, let's remove drug-dealing from the city."
