Artists invited to enter works to top show

Artists are being invited to make their submissions for one of the region’s most prestigious art exhibitions.

Professional and amateur artists can submit work for the Open Exhibition at Hull’s Ferens Art Gallery from now until Wednesday January 25.

Prizes are on offer for the works selected for the exhibition, which runs from Saturday February 11 to Sunday April 15. The selectors this year are visual artist David Chalmers, and Curator of Beverley Art Gallery and freelance art historian Gerardine Mulcahy.

Claire Longrigg, Assistant Curator of Exhibitions at Ferens Art Gallery, said: “The Open Exhibition gets more and more popular each year.

“The Ferens Art Gallery and selectors David Chalmers and Gerardine Mulcahy are looking forward to viewing entries from not only well-established and popular artists but new and emerging talent.”

The exhibition also offers visitors the chance to buy an original work of art at a reasonable price.

Artists can enter up to three piece of work. For each piece submitted there is a non-returnable handling fee of £3, and £1.50 for concessions.
