Authority in care storm publishes children's pledge

CHILD carers at an under-fire council are to publish a new commitment to children in care after facing severe criticism from Government inspectors.

Doncaster Council unveiled its Making Care Count pledge yesterday, and said the 10-point plan had been drawn up with the help of youngsters in local authority care.

According to senior councillors, the idea is to ensure all young people receive the same treatment. Coun Andrea Milner, Doncaster Council's children's services spokesman said: "The pledge is all about showing how we are listening and responding to our looked after children and young people."
