Award-winning florist gives home a blooming good show

FLORIST David Denyer brought a touch of the Chelsea Flower Show to a care home in Leeds yesterday.

Mr Denyer recreated part of Interflora’s gold medal winning exhibit for residents at Headingley Hall care come after an employee won his visit in a competition on behalf of the 70 residents.

His show exhibit – A Sense of Perspective –featured a series of nine stylised doorways framing each other to provide the impression of perspective.

Each was adorned with hundreds of flowers in different colours and the design was tested using a sample frame at his own shop.

Yesterday the Bournemouth-based florist recreated one of those doorways at Headingley Hall before giving a talk to residents, staff and friends at the home.

Mr Denyer is a seasoned competitor within the world of floristry and has been in the industry since leaving school.

His style is inspired by nature, life and architecture and he says: “My love is flowers and my passion is design.”

His has also won numerous other major titles including Interflora florist of the year twice,

In 2004, he won the Interflora world title and he also has five additional Chelsea gold medals – four of which were for best in show.
