Banging the drum for chef
A FOOTBALL band from Yorkshire will swap the terraces for the kitchen this week to drum up support for a British chef bidding to win the world’s most prestigious cooking competition.
Six members of the Sheffield-based England Band are heading to Lyon in France to cheer on Adam Bennett, the UK candidate cooking for the Bocuse d’Or on Wednesday.
Band leader John Hemmingham said: “Lyon is the French capital of cuisine and the Bocuse d’Or is serious business.
“It’s the first time that we’ve ever played anywhere quite like this and we’ve been given instructions on when and what to perform. It will be a world away from the football terraces.”
