BBC child abuser may face more claims

Detectives are investigating further allegations of abuse against former BBC radio presenter Michael Souter who was convicted of a string of child sex offences yesterday.

Ex-BBC Norfolk broadcaster Souter, 60, of Loddon, in Norfolk, was found guilty of 26 charges including indecent assault, indecency with a child, serious sexual offences, and seven counts of possessing indecent images of children.

Prosecutors described Souter, who was also involved in the Scouts and a social services youth mentoring scheme, as a “sexual deviant” who was obsessed with young boys in shorts and uniform.

After his conviction, Norfolk Police confirmed a “live inquiry” was continuing into outstanding claims. Souter is due to be sentenced on October 31.
