BBC criticised over plans to pull out of city

A ROW has broken out after the BBC announced it will close its broadcast unit at Bradford’s National Media Museum.

The decision has been criticised by Bradford MPs Gerry Sutcliffe and George Galloway who are lobbying for a re-think.

Mr Sutcliffe said Bradford would become the largest city in the country without a BBC presence.

A BBC spokeswoman said it was reducing its property estate to save costs, adding: “As such, the Bradford studio will close at the end of March. The BBC remains committed to fully representing Bradford in our output. The BBC in Yorkshire is piloting new technology to cover the region including mobile broadcasting capability.”
