‘Best acoustic group’ will bring folk sound to town

CRITICALLY-acclaimed folk quartet Rainbow Chasers are to bring their repertoire of self-penned songs to Goole’s Junction auditorium on Friday February 10.

Legendary folk musician, songwriter and producer Ashley Hutchings has joined forces with a trio of experienced musicians – Joe Topping, Jo Hamilton and Ruth Angell – to create what is his fourth folk-rock band.

Drawing on a broad range of influences, they are currently working on their fourth album – Under The Eaves – which will be released in the autumn.

Their three previous albums – Some Colours Fly (2005), Fortune Never Sleeps (2006) and compilation The Best of: 2004-2010 (2010) – resulted in Mojo magazine describing their sound as “an excellent snap-shot of music in the early 21st century”.

Folk songwriter Phil Beer described them as ‘the best acoustic group in the country.’

Hutchings, an occasional playwright and poet, previously performed with Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and The Albion Band.

Fairport Convention’s 1969 Liege & Lief album was voted the “most influential folk album of all time” by BBC Radio listeners.
